THE EVENT
Padrino means Godparent/Sponsor in Spanish. A Padrino/Madrina has a great opportunity and responsibility to positively influence the life of his/her ahijado/a. This event promises to be a night of fun and joyous hope as everyone learns how easy it is for them to influence the life of a child in the Back of the Yards of Chicago.
Caring for children and youth has been a priority of the parish of Holy Cross-Immaculate Heart of Mary since its beginning in 1981. Through these years, countless persons have dedicated hundreds and thousands of hours to the educational, social, and spiritual growth of the young members of our community. In 2001, under the leadership of Father Bruce Wellems, CMF, our Kid’s Meal Program was begun through our linkage with the Greater Chicago Food Depository. The Casa Romero Kid’s Meal Program continues today and provides hundreds of meals each month to children and youth ages 3-18.
Join us at Mi Tierra Restaurant on March 6 and become a participant in our effort to fight childhood hunger and all the social and behavioral difficulties that arise from it. Our guest of honor will be Father Bruce Wellems back to Chicago to celebrate his birthday at the event.
