Welcome to our Parish College Web Page!
For many years our parish has sought ways to accompany College students and young people from the Back of the Yards in their desires for a higher education. We want to help provide resources so that our young people have access to the best possible education to attain their dreams. We recognize education brings understanding to their family experience, and therefore an appreciation of the gift of their lives. We also know education is the foundation to their hope, and we can never lose hope. Fr. Val Peter, Executive Director emeritus of Boys Town, recently wrote to one of our staff: “The reason we cannot lose hope is because if we lose hope, then the kids lose hope and that is something that would be unspeakable and unforgiveable.”
The parish dedicates much of its resources, research and energy towards education of our youth. As a Parish we support after-school programs dedicated to mentoring our children in their studies and life skills. We also provide computer space and we meet often with college students to support their vocational interests. We look for ways young people can volunteer their time in service, since as Albert Schweitzer once said “One thing I know: the only ones among you who will be really happy are those who will have sought and found how to serve.”
As you explore this page I hope you will find support for your education and various ways to get involved in service. Thanks for your dreams and your study! God bless you!
