Faith Development

Holy Week is always a special time of the year for Parish families and young people. In addition to volunteering around the parish, many youth plan to be involved in the Way of the Cross (Via Crucis). Young people are invited to set up "stations" of the cross in various parts of the neighborhood. As the procession apporaches, the people stop at the station to present a prayer.  - Special Processions also took place Holy Thursday evening and Good Friday evening after the services.

Children from the CCD program, young people involved in the R.C.I.A., as well as catechists presented several stations and prayed for the needs of the poor.

About 100 parish ministers and Catechists gathered October 31, 2009 for a time of recollection as they considered ways youth and children can be invited to attend and participate in Sunday parish masses. A reading from Luke about the two disciples on the way to Emmaus set the tone for a day of reflection, sharing of bread, ideas and... since it was halloween, carmel apples.

Welcome and thank you for your interest in learning about the faith development of our parish community. It is in serving the poor and the marginalized, in gathering to tell our stories, and in breaking bread together that our parish community finds meaning to Christ's mandate "Do this in memory of me." This understanding of sharing word and breaking bread gives life to our celebration of the Eucharist, to our evangelizing and catechetical activities, our sacramental programs, our missions and novenas, and to the many expressions of faith and culture that we call popular religiosity. Join us through these pages to learn more about how we foster the development of faith in our community and know that you are always welcome to join us in person in this journey of faith.
