Thank you to all who joined in the celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe on December 12th. Thank you to our businesses, parents and youth volunteers who prepared the novena and fiesta celebration. May the reflections on the lessons of life taken from the hill of Tepeyac guide the parish in a giving spirit always!

DECEMBER 12th, the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe

With the Novena celebrated, the parish was ready for the festivity of December 12th!  At 5:30 am, Elena Segura, Director for the Chicago Archdiocesan Office of Immigration, provided reflections for the morning gospel reading, after participating with the community in the traditional songs of mañanitas.  A parish prayer card was given to the people at the end of the hour long morning prayer service.

Later in that day, at 7 PM, Fr. Bruce Wellems, presided with his Claretian missionary brothers, for a memorable mass commemorating the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe.  He invited Fr. Hector Návalo to reflect with him on the meaning of the novena and to recall the highlights of the days. The mass featured the parish choirs and musicians, as well as the Ballet Folklorico dancers from the Back of the Yards Council. The mothers of the parish prepared 1,500 tamales and a great reception afterwards. The parish Marimba Ensemble performed for the reception.
