The Children’s Choir, now with 20 members grades 1-11, meets every Friday at 5:30 pm to practice in Holy Cross Church. The group sings, accompanied by the Marimba Ensemble, every Sunday at the 11:30 am mass in Holy Cross Church, at 46th and Hermitage.
The Choir is led by Daisy Vega, a choir member herself as a girl, and now is a leader and director. The activities of the Children’s Choir are supported by the children’s parents, who prepare a various fundraising events in the course of a year — which, besides raising funds for the children’s activities, have the goal of providing a strong experience of community for families in the neighborhood.
Periodically, the group is invited to perform at events outside the parish.
The Children’s Choir and Marimba Ensemble regularly perform for the Museum of Science and Industry’s Christmas Around the World and Holiday of Lights (this year on Saturday, December 21), and for Midway Airport for the busy holiday travelers.
